Night Activities in the Judean Desert
Activities take place on dates published on the Society for the Protection of
Nature’s website for day visitors and by reserving in advance. Private guides can
also be arranged for groups and individuals.
Masada and Marl Rock – With the help of the lantern and moonlight, this excursion
departs from the parking lot at the foot of Masada. The route passes through marl
rock formations, which narrate the story of the Dead Sea’s formation. The rocks
shine brilliantly under starlight and moonlight, allowing you to enjoy beautiful and
breathtaking views. During the excursion, we’ll talk about the night sky and
nocturnal animals in the Judean Desert.
Trail Duration: About two and half hours
Target Audience: Ages 5 and above, walking enthusiasts.
Astronomy – Astronomy evenings are held at a field school in the form of a lecture
for the general public, followed by nighttime sky watching using a special laser and
telescopes. The activity can be held outside without a lecture and in a dark isolated
place with no light pollution.
Family-friendly
Scorpions and Nocturnal Creatures Night Tour – With the help of ultraviolet lights,
